Engelhaug Farm Book Records
This farm probably has a long history. It's more recent history and its fame comes from this being the birthplace of Edvard Munch. His father had been a military doctor stationed here. His mother was a farmer's daughter. She was probably born on the Bjølstad farm about half way between Lom and Ringebu. Edvard lived here for the first four years and came back periodically to visit and do art work. My own grandmother was also born about two kilometers on the Aadalen farm (or Adalsbruk factory) away about two years earlier. She lived in the area overlapping Edvard and they may have seen one another but we have no recorded proof. Edvard loved the area and came here for the friendliness of the locals as well as the environment.
Munch was born here 1863, Dec 12 and was baptized on April 15 1864 in the nearby Løten Church.
See more on Edvard Munch at the Klevfos Museum.
