This church was built between 1627 to 1630 on a site which held an earlier stave church built about 1200.  It is located just off the E6 road to Ringebu.  Although it has some stylistic characteristics of the Stave churches it was probably built considerably later but I think about 1600.    While initially a Catholic church during the Reformation it was converted to Lutheran.  Church service are still held here regularly and now a service is held for farm workers who may be Catholic.

See Ringebu Stave Kirke here.
