The above document shows that Olia
was born to Ole Jenson and Marte Nilson of Aadalen farm.
She is born here on July 16, 1817. This farm is
described for its history the following translated by Google
from the Danish to English. The same plot of land
had been several close name changes. It was called
Aardalen/Aadalen from 1604, by 1616 it was changed to
Oudahl, then changed again to Oudallen in 1669, by 1723
it was listed as Oudahlen. It seems that the original
name is still being used in 1817.

The farm Brovold is where Knud
Olsen and Olia Olsdatter lived. In another record it is
stated that this was a small plot of land where potatoes were
grown. It was owned by the Crown from 1669. It was
uninhabited from 1887. I believe that Knud and Olia were
serfs on the land with little to loose and everything to gain
by emigrating.
1878 -Marianne Oliane sailed for
America on August 30, 1878. Bernt paid for her passage and
obtained a job for her at the plantation of Col. J. R. Henry,
just south of Mexia, Texas. Only a couple of month after her
arrival her father, Knud died October 6, 1878. While in Texas,
Marianne met Evan Rohne and married 15 Dec. 1880 Limestone
Co., TX.
1881 - Olea Olsdatter Egeberg, having seen her children go to America and her husband dead, she had no reason to stay in Norway. She also sails to America September 2, 1881 with the destination listed as Waco, Texas on the ship "Rollo" of the Wilson Line. This ship is one of many ships that ran multiple trips between Christiana (Oslo), Norway and Hull, England. From Hull passengers were escorted onto trains that took them to one of the main points of departure, perhaps Liverpool. I have not been able to find a record of her voyage from England to date.

She may have caught a ship like
Evan Rohne did that would take her to New Orleans or
Galveston.
Once in Texas she lived both with
her son but mostly with her daughter, Marianne and Evan Rohne,
her new son-in-law. She lived with them for over thirty years.
As in most extended families she undoubtedly was very useful
with helping to care for the large number of children in the
Rohne family. She would certainly have helped to cook the
meals for the farm hands during harvest and help with the
laundry activities on a regular basis.[Norge in Texas p. 416]
1911, August 14 - Olea Olsdatter is buried at the Rock Church, Cranfills Gap, Bosque Co., TX in the plot with Evan and Marianne Rohne. The statement on the stone reads, " ... stop deliverance. ...... " [cemetery marker, plot 36.5]
