I have no idea if this record belongs to the correct Starling but it does seem to indicate that the Starling family was here for some time.
John Debarr, 200 acs. in the W. Branch of Eliz. Riv., 6 Oct. 1654, p. 298. Adj. Thomas Wrights land & Richard Starlinge. Granted unto sd. Debar 6 Nov. 1653, & since proved deserted land, as appears by order of the Co. Ct. of Low. Norf., 21 Sept. 1654. [Nugent p. 297]
Richard Sterlinge married Martha ___________ and inherited his father's lands according to his will. By 1700, Richard, then referred to as a carpenter, and his wife Martha, sold to George Corbin. Chyrugeon, 150 acres which had been purchased from Daniel Foxworth.
Richard Starling's age is determined from a deposition given by him in 1689 in Court in Northampton County, Va. when it was noted the he was "aged 20 yrs. or thereabouts." [Northampton Ct. Orders _______ p. 42]
1707 - Richard Starling sold an additional 10 acres and by 1709, the remainder. His land at that time until today is known as "Pigg Point". [Williams. p352]
His estate was settled in Accomack County on August 10, 1710, with Tully Robinson, the greatest creditor. [Accomack Order Bk. 1710-1714, p.10]
