1830 - William Smith Terry is born to John McDowell Terry and Mary
Octavia (Jones) in Laurens Co. South Carolina. His father is John
McDowell Terry b.
1795 in SC whose father in turn came from Ireland or England in
1790.
His
mother is Mary (Graydon/Gradon)b. 1800 SC goes back to the
distinguished families
of Graydon, Jones and Camp that fought in the Revolutionary War.

1867- After the war William Smith Terry(John's father), T. O. P.
Terry(oldest brother of W.S) and Robert Terry(brother of W. S)
move to
Ashley
Co., Arkansas. W. S. and Robert set up a saw and grain
mill. T.
O. P. Terry's
son, Alonzo, is also working for them but later becomes a
dentist.
Robert Terry is listed as a
cabinet maker and carpenter in the census records. All of
the
brothers have multiple children and it becomes a large series of
cousins. Keeping them seperated into their respective
families
has proved to be quite a chalange.
