1764 - June 5, John Wells petitioned the Governor and council for 200 acres of land on Brier Creek, St. George's Parish, a mile from John Dahart, having then been two years in the province and having a wife and one child. Petition granted. [Colonial Records of Georgia, IX, 182.]
1765 - Feb. 5 - Absalom Wells, Senr. petitioned, setting forth that he had purchased all the rights and titles of William David in and to 200 acres of land on McBeans's Swamp in St. George's Parish - that the petitioner had been about three months form North Carolina, having a child and three slaves. Granted in his name. (Ibid. X, 238). on Dec 1, 1767 , he petitioned again, eight months in the provice; 200 acres already granted him; wife, four children and 4 negroes; 150 acres on Brier Creek adjoining George Walker. 1768 - Absalom lost the first tract; Gov. and Council, Jan. 5, 1768. On caveat of Absalom Wells against William Davis receiving 200 acres on McBeam's Swamp (both parties being present). Grant was ordered to Davis, he to reimburse Wells for any expense he had been to, and to pay any other money due him. (X, 394). [records of Mildred Ezell]
1769- proved March 9. Will of Absalom Wells (Sr) On June 4, 1768 Absalom Wells (Sr.) made his will, which was proved March 9, 1769.
