The first mention of James Taylor White is in Orange Co., VA Will book 1. on 24 Feb. 1742. James Taylor White and William White made bond for Rebecca Chissum to administratix of John Chissum. The William White mentioned in this document would probably J. T. White's brother, if our assumptions are correct on the birth dates, William of J. T. would only be about 12 years old. Even if his son William were of legal age he probably would not be enlisted as an administrator of the estate at a young age. [Gifford White]

James Taylor White may have died before the move to Burke Co., NC. [Gifford White]

 1777, Aug 20th
Reuben White has apparently died and the will apparently goes into probate with court documents and affidavites to the validity of the will testafied to by Alexander Cole, Geroge Hickman. [Gifford. Burke County Civil and Criminal Cases, Folder 1777, N. C. Dept of Archives & History] 1777-78 - John White and James White received land grants in Burke Co., NC but they did not stay long. [Gifford White]

1778- The land records of South Carolina show that John White lives along with other White family members in Craven County, South Carolina.

1780-81 - John White and James White appeared on the property tax rolls of Washington Co., TN

1782, May - John White and James White arrived with their families in Natchez Terr. on the lower Mississippi River. James dies here c1783. [Natchez Court Records 1767-1805]

John White settled on the lower Vermilion River of Louisiana. he and others of the family received land grants there.

No. 1236 to John White March 30,1816. 400 arpents -338.87 acres Order of Survey by Baron Carondelet, dated 22 April 1794. Situate in the County of Atakapas in the Prairie Sorel on vermillion river. Bounded above by Madam Carre and below by vacant land.

James White, the son of James T. White, goes to Natchez with John White, and William Dewitt. Jerusha White, the wife of James gives a testimony in Natchez in 1785. She describes how they were in Washington Co., N. Carolina and their travels to Natchez. It is presumed that James, the younger, died between 1782-1783. Their son Reuben was also old enough to give deposition at this time. This Reuben White is the White that moves to Rapides Parish, Louisiana and shows up in the land claims there. He moves to Catahoula Parish by the 1820 census. James White, Jr., his brother born about 1765 married Mary Paul and also shows up in early Rapides Parish land claims.

The following petition dated August 10 1794 was from a group of Natchez settlers to the Governor Carondelet includes Reuben and James White Jr. along with George Paul, his father in-law.

1790 - John White recorded his 3W brand in Natchez, Post of Attakapas.

1791 - Marriage records of St. Martin Church show William White marrrying Amanda Comstock. William's father and mother are identified in this record written in spanish.

1794 -

The first survey of B1236 to John White was made on Nov. 3 1810 by Thomas Orme, Surveyor, and James Quinn with Charles Macatee as chain carriers. This survey was found erroneously 1816 located and therefore rejected. Another was made on May 6, 1816 by William Johnson, Surveyor, with James Tailor [White?] and Michael Goldrick as chain carriers. This last plat shows the house location. [records of Lafayette Parish, Louisiana State Office]
