We know nothing about this family.

1785, Benjamin Browning, Rogers father dies in Pennsylvania.  He dies without a will died intestate (inventory of estate was recorded 17 Nov 1785). The Pennsylvania records show Roger as a "single freeman" in the 1785; therefore, it appears that his first wife may have died during that year. His household in the 1783 tax lists shows that there were 6 peoples residing in it. It, therefore, appears to me that the first wife may have died, perhaps as a result of Nathan's birth. In any event Roger disappears from the PA tax records after being shown as not paying his tax
for the year 1785. No doubt, he returned to Frederick Co., MD during this period, but we have not confirmed this.

1797, June 10 Roger Browning sells land that his father, Benjamin Browning had previoiusly owned to Jeremiah Browning in Frederick County, Maryland.

At the request of Jeremiah Browning  the following deed was recorded 1st May 1787 to wit
This Indenture Witnessett that whereas Benjamin Browning late of Frederick County and State of Maryland decesed did die intestate Roger Browning his Eldest Son became His and Owner of all his deceased Father's real Estate Now this Indenture made this fourth day of April one thoushand seven hundred and eigthy seven  Between the paid Roger Browning Son and Heir of Benjamin Browning deceased of Frederick County and State of Maryland Farmer of the one part and Jermiah Browning of the County and Ste aforesaid Farmer of the other part Witnefsth that the said Roger Browning for and in Consideration of the Sum of three hundred and fifty pounds Current Money to him in the Hand paid by teh said Jeremiah Browning before the Sealing and Delivering of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted
