1887 - Karl Kiesel applies for immigration and states that he was a resident of Washington State. [immigration application papers]
Eventually Emil Kiesel gets a job with the Northern Pacific
railroad in Tacoma, Washington. He probably helps to get the rest
of the family to move to Tacoma including his father, Karl, and
his mother, Freda. See Charles Kiesel's recollections of the
Voyage to Hawaii in 1881.
1900 - US Census. Kauai, Koloa Dist. Series: T623 Roll: 1835 Page: 56 (Carl is here working as an
engineer and has been naturalized 10 years. )
1900 - US Census. Washington, Pierce Co., Tacoma. Series: T623 Roll: 1749 Page: 193 (Rosy
is living next to Karl Keisel (Sr.) with wife
Augusta. However in this census he is listed as
Keiser. )
1910 - US Census, Hawaii, Oahu, Ewa, Dist. 56. (OC means
white in this case)
1913, 15 Mar
Freda Augusta Kiesel, Carl's mother, dies in Tacoma, WA. The death
certificate is signed by her son-in-law, Dolf Augustine.
1913-14 - Karl (Sr.) retires from his business as a shoemaker at
the age of 74. This is perhaps when he moves with his daughter to
L. A. [death certificate]
1930 - US
Census, Hawaii, Oahu, Honolulu1943 - Marie dies in Honolulu,
Hawaii. In this
census we find the dates that Charles and Mary emigrated
to Honolulu.

Rosalynn Kamakaokalani “Roz” Nuuanu, 47, of Waianae, an HSI Mechanical Co. employee, died in Honolulu. She was born in Honolulu. She is survived by husband Robert, son Robert K. Jr., daughters Ranea K. and Rania K., mother Magnolia Soares, brothers Wayne and Jason Soares, and sister Kahea Soares. Visitation: 9:30 a.m. Friday at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio, mauka chapel. Services: 10:30 a.m. [Honolulu Star-Advertiser Obituaries, June 16, 2015.]
