1845, January - The entire Marshall became ill. Dr. Joseph Perham was paid for a visit to the children in Jan. - Elizabeth Popejoy (remarried widow of John Marshall), as the eldest surviving heir, becomes the administrator of the estate of her father, William S. Potter. Over about a seven year period she has to get the signature of all the heirs to the estate for the sale of the property. This lengthy set of documents connects the Marshall, Potter, and Bailes families and lays out the relationships. Shortly after the last documents are signed and heirs have received their payment the entire clan picks up roots and moves to Kansas [Greene County Will Book A:92]
