Abner Clark Family
Alabama

This line is still in need of much research if anyone has information on the Clark family of South Carolina or Alabama, I would very much like to know about it.
Abner Clark
b. (?1760-1770)? Virginia/South Carolina
d. probably before 1840 ?South Carolina

m. unknown

his father:  (possibly Matthew Clark)
his mother: (possibly Abigail Baldwin)

Children
Teresa Catherine Clark b. 1814 SC d. after 1860, ?AR m. W. W. Clyde Oct. 27, 1836 Tuscaloosa, Alabama

I have practically nothing on Teressa Clark's family. This family is only a possibility based on the only known Clark in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1820 and 1830. Please help.

Of the three Clark families in Alabama in 1840, I believe her father was Abner Clark of South Carolina who probably brought his family here in the 1830's. Abner Sr. seems to have died by the 1840 census but his wife is still living and is 70 - 80 years old living with Abner Clark 30-40yrs, the probable older brother to Teressa. The other possibility may be Samuel Clark 40 to 50 years, who only has a 20 to 30 year old wife at home.

There is no Clark family listed in any county census in Alabama in 1800, 1810, or 1820.

0n the same page in Mississippi are both WW Clyde and James Clark.  I believe James may be the brother of Teresa.  James is 40-50 years old along with his possible mother.  Teresa should be 20-30 years old.
