I have very little information on this family besides the list of children. The three Hollaway brothers, James, George and Robert, married women from the Porter family and were involved in a major lawsuit of Tillet Porter. (see James Lee Hollaway for more details)
Robert seems to have
been a farmer in Louisiana and later in Mississippi. He
probably
operated his plantation as a minor slave holder, although I
have no
confirmation of this.
1840- US Census.
Mississippi, Franklin County, page 160 This is probably for Robert
Hollaway
Senior but Junior is probably here as well. Robt
senior fits the
60-70 year old.

1841 - Mississippi
State
Census.
Robert
Hollaway is listed in Franklin County. no township
listed.
Robert dies sometime around 1846. Amanda Jane is living with James Lee Hollaway, her uncle, in 1850. There seems to have been a terrific epidemic of possibly cholera, dyptheria or yellow fever. Several of the Hollaway and other related families lost adults. Robert's brother George and his wife, a Pettedly family, Byrd family, all had children distributed to various Hollaway relatives as orphans all about the same time.
