#records of Mary Vance Norfleet.
Both Benjamin and Elizabeth seem to have been born in South Carolina. The Jones families were in South Carolina for some time before the American Revolution. They were active in the Revolution with Adam Crain Jones, his grandfather, listed as a member of the militia.

We still don't know which of the Moon family was the father of
Mary Elizabeth Moon. According to the way I read the record she
could be the child of John or Robert D. Moon. Assuming that she
was at least 16 years old in 1832 she would have to be about 12
years old in 1820.

1850 - US census records show him in Laurens Co., S. C:
Benjamin Jones 40 m farmer $500 born in S.C. is here with the
above listed children plus what appears to be a nephew, Silas
Jones 18m, a farmer. [Laurens Co. p.318]
1857 Mary Octavia Jones marries W. S. Terry. in South Carolina.
Mary is listed as daughter of Benjamin T. Jones of Laurens Dist.
[Implied South Carolina Marriages. Vol. IV 1787-1875.p.127 and
207]
although Benjamin Jones middle initial is copied as a "T"
rather than an "F" in this book the latter is correct based on
the records and naming of his son, Benjamin Franklin Jones, and
naming of W. S. Terry's son, B. F. Terry.
Benjamin F. Jones in the Deed of Trust of 30 January, 1857, registered 10 Feb. 1857 is giving to Mary Octavia Jones, his daughter, and William S. Terry, her husband, two twin slave girls, Flora and Laura, about eight years of age "for her sole and separate use". They are to be held in trust for her by H. A. Jones, (her uncle, Henry A. Jones, b. c.1817, lawyer 33 yrs in 1850 Abbeville census). .......... [Sec of State -Misc. Records S.C., Laurens Co., Bk. 2, p.532-533, Roll#Misc 16]
Benjamin Jones Jr. has moved on to Arkansas along with his sister
Mary and brother-in-law, W. S. Terry. Ben Jr. had married W. S.
Terry's sister, Sarah (Ann) Terry in 1857. Sarah died one year
afterwards of typhoid and is buried in the Pisgah M. E. Church
Cemetery in Fountain Inn, South Carolina with many other Terry
relatives.
1861- Benjamin Jones is probably enlisted in the Confederate Army.
Here he may have picked up his training for medicine and continues
to practice as a physician.

Dr. Jones was for many years a practicing physician in this county and was untiring in his efforts to relieve his fellow men. he was successful in his practice and amassed a competency, retiring from active practice a number of years ago and conducting the affairs of his large farm at Muddy Fork the balance of his useful life. For several years he had been practically blind and has been unable to look after the work on his place.
Dr. Jones is survived by his wife and six children as follows: Mrs. B. F. Hancock and Mrs. George Bryant of this city, Mr. W. D. Jones, Ozan; Mrs. Jim Scoggin and Mrs. Joe Darling, Muddy Fork; and Mrs. S. C. Marr, Ashdown. Deceased had a large circle of friends all over this part of the state and his funeral was largely attended by people from all over this section. The sympathies of the people of the community go out to the bereaved relatives in their loss.
Cousin Robert Lee Jones says that B. F. Jones of Muddy Fork was H. A. Jones' nephew, the son of H. A.'s brother Ben F. Jones, P. C. Jones was also H. A. Jones' nephew, and brother of B. F. Jones of Muddy Fork.
