1782 - Martha Brown's will goes to probate. She seems to have been the previous wife of a Potter. We still are trying to find out whose wife she may have been. The naming pattern suggests the second wife of of John Potter who died in 1758. She apparently remarried. John's wife according to some researchers was supposed to be a Martha Bard.

Orphans Court Docket 2:119, 139, 177 (1833-1834) Motion by John Latta, attorney in fact for H. McLaughlin and wife Jane (formerly Latta), Peggy Latta, Susan Latta, and Betsy Latta to Robert Brown and Thomas Potter, exec. of Samuel Potter, dec?d, to file an accounting. later actions to define an accounting, with a series of different executors for Samuel Potter, dec?d.

From the will, I would have several conclusions: Samuel had little regard for the financial management of three of his daughters or their husbands One of the daughters married a Latta, and died before the 1830's. Probably Margaret or Polly. Since two of the executors were sons-in-law, I would suspect that John Galloway was also. I would suspect that his wife was Olivia.

From the James Potter bio, it is known that Anna m. Robert Brown, Martha m. William Hill, and Catherine m. first James Carnahan then Mathew McClanahan.
