This family is very much speculation. Abraham Cole lived near Zacheriah
Kirkland and Mary in Henry Co., Alabama. He seems to be the right age
to be Mary's grandfather rather than father. I suspect her father,
Abraham Jr., listed here probably died while she was young. She may
have actually been raised by her grandfather. He is also the only known
Cole in Henry Co. Alabama in 1835.
Even though Abraham Cole in Alabama in 1850 claims he was born in North
Carolina, we have no proof that he was still living there in
1790. He would be only ten years old in 1790 and would have
to live with his family. Here are only a few possible families
that could be related.
The marriage of Elizabeth Cole to Alfred Roney is not documented at
all. There is a possible marriage to an Elizabeth Cole listed in
a World Tree established by Ancestry.com. If Elijah Roney
is born in 1861 this marriage will work for the dates but I'm still
looking for documentation. The Cole, Roney, Spann and Kirkland
families lived close to one another in Henry Co., Alabama and the
relationship does make some sense. This could also be the wrong
Elizabeth Cole.

(no other Abraham or Solomon Cole in any county in NC)
There is some evidence that Abraham Cole may be the son of Solomon
Cole. Although the census of 1850 says that Abraham was born in
North Carolina, there was a good deal of movement between North and
South Carolina due to Indian incursions. There is a Solomon
Cole in South Carolina in 1790. Solomon has 5 males under age 16
and 3 females and no slaves.
